28 NORTH CD RELEASE PARTY |
ANTHONY RANKIN |
| |
28 North has been writing music, recording, traveling, and slamming out live performances for five years. Although all four members are in their early twenties, they have produced a significant body of work with over 100 original songs in their ever-growing repertoire. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 28 North brings big crowds and raucous standing ovations wherever they play.
The foursome’s sound is rooted in classic rock but they have innovated their own uniquely soulful and electrifying sound. The list of influences is endless but The Beatles, The Band, The Allman Brothers, and Led Zeppelin lead the way, with added blends of funk, alternative, folk and jazz.
Infused with retro culture, the tunes of 28 North are thought-provoking with resonating hooks and choruses. With two completed CDs, “Gone Too Far,” and “Mystery,” these four young men have something exciting to say...something innovative with a nod to the past. 28 North songs are radio-ready, edgy, but classic enough to be enjoyed by a wide range of listeners. Listen and you’re going to hear one of the most solid bands around. |

| |
Right out of the gate, Seven Mary Three faced constant comparisons--first to groups like Pearl Jam, later to R.E.M. Seven Mary Three, or 7M3 as they are sometimes known, had a streak of luck at the beginning of their career. First, an Orlando, Florida, radio station began playing one of their songs, leading to a record contract just a few weeks after the members graduated from college. Then, that same song, "Cumbersome," and their major-label debut album, American Standard, launched Seven Mary Three into platinum-selling success. |

DONORA / GENE THE WEREWOLF |
WITH LOVEBETTIE AND VESTA (FT. MEMBERS OF THE JULIANA THEORY) |
| |
Every once and a while, things happen that make other people assume Donora is a big deal. The band members of Donora do little to set the record straight. Like one time, their song "Shhh" was featured in a PostSecret Valentine's Day video that reached over 1 million hits on youtube and myspace in the week it debuted. MTV has used their music in shows like Cribs, Underaged and Engaged, and True Life. This other time, one of their songs was used in the Starz feature film Lower Learning.
Pittsburgh rockers, Gene the Werewolf started making music together in early 2007. Though the band has only been together for a few years, the five members have collectively played music and toured all over the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Japan for over a decade. Agreeing that they wanted “to play music that was as Ridiculous as it was Awesome,” the guys teamed up and Gene The Werewolf was born. |

Evolution is an extensive process, however the Seattle rock act This Providence
have managed to condense this feat into a scant two years with their full-length
Who Are You Now? While their 2006 self-titled Fueled By Ramen debut
introduced the world to the band’s inventive brand of indie rock, with their latest
album they’ve proved how versatile they’ve become from spending the past two
years on the road and refining their craft—and they can’t wait to finally show the
rest of the world the fruits of their hard-earned labor. |

- THE MAINE - CARTEL - ARTIST VS. POET - STEREO SKYLINE - |
| |
About We The Kings:
For pop-rock quartet We The Kings, it's all about staying connected – with each other, with their hometown roots, and especially with their fans. Named for hometown Bradenton, Florida’s King Middle School where they first made music together, the band – Travis Clark (lead vocals, guitar), Hunter Thomsen (guitar, backing vocals), Drew Thomsen (bass) and Danny Duncan (drums) – has grown into one of the most engaging and exciting acts on the pop-rock circuit. Talent, ambition, and hard work have all played a part, but for We The Kings, nurturing the bonds between the band and their fans is what makes it all happen.
About The Maine:
Formed in Phoenix, AZ, in 2007 while most of the bandmembers were still in high school, the Maine turned their '90s radio rock band influences into a generic but still infectious pop-punk sound. Featuring singer John O'Callaghan, guitarists Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, and drummer Pat Kirch, the Maine signed to Fearless Records and released a five-song concept EP, The Way We Talk, in 2007. After performing on the 2008 Vans Warped Tour, the band released their debut album Can't Stop Won't Stop, which was produced by Matt Squire. |

After spending an evening with John Valby, audiences find themselves wanting more and more of him. What makes Valby so unique and entertaining is his uncommon rapport with the audience and his ability to mix his musical talent with a mad-cap variety of "Dirty Ditties". Few people can resist laughing at songs that would have earned them a mouthful of soap when they were children. Valby's repertoire is composed of popular songs, limericks, classical arrangements and his own original creations. Valby has made a career out of poking fun at his audiences, stretching the limits of free speech and accepted good taste and satirizing current events from behind the piano. When he's not playing and singing, he yells obscenities: the audience yells back and everyone has a good time.
The best way to describe John Valby is to blend the following performers: Allen Sherman, Spike Jones, Lenny Bruce and Wierd Al Yankovic all topped off with the Dirt of Redd Foxx; only better. |

SKY EATS AIRPLANE AND DROP DEAD GORGEOUS |
DEATH FROM ABOVE TOUR PRESENTED BY MERCHNOW.COM - WITH SPECIAL GUESTS ATTILA, SLEEPING WITH SIRENS, & MAESION |
| |
Their name may evoke thoughts of 'Lost' theories and regressed flying phobias, but Sky Eats Airplane is, in fact, Fort Worth, Texas' most notable electronicore five-piece. The band's story begins in 2005 when Lee Duck and Brack Cantrell, a young, experimental duo, spent just three months writing and self-producing their nine-track debut record Everything Perfect on the Wrong Day. While the project was somewhat of a casual effort for the two teens, the album garnered a fervent buzz amongst hardcore fans. Their online presence was completely unprecedented for such a small, unsigned band.
Hard rock heroes DROP DEAD, GORGEOUS have returned with an explosive thrill-ride of a record. Bolstered by the same crushing intensity that first earned the Denver-bred band a loyal global following, DROP DEAD, GORGEOUS’ electrifying and adventurous new studio disc--appropriately dubbed THE HOT N’ HEAVY (Suretone)--can’t help but leave its metalcore peers in the dust. |

Born Sept. 6, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, David Allan Coe was in and out of reform schools, correction centers and prisons since the age of 9. One of the most fascinating -- and, some would say, dangerous -- figures in the entire history of country music, Coe's unrestrained ego is evident throughout his work. After all, he was not shy in listing himself alongside two undisputed icons when he wrote and recorded the 1976 single, "Willie, Waylon and Me." |

AN ALL FEMALE TRIBUTE TO LED ZEPPELIN |
| |
Since forming in 2004, the New York City-based quartet has toured throughout the United States and Europe to become the first and foremost female rock act to pay homage to Led Zeppelin and to garner rave reviews across the board. Although, LEZ ZEPPELIN stays true to the musically audacious spirit of the original, delivering the legendary rock band’s blistering arrangements and monstrous sound note-for-note at what often are sold-out frenzied shows around the world, the four women that make for the four essentially diverse elements of the band bring their own unique energy and passion to the music. Indeed, this may be the thing that serves most to set them apart. But then, there is also the seamless and strangely appropriate way in which LEZ ZEPPELIN inject their gender-bending performance into material that is often thought of as an historically male expression. For those who believe this to be the case, all that can be said is: times have changed. |
